Over the past weekend, Evan start being able to turn on both sides very easily and crawling a little. This new development means he's a lot more mobile than before, but also means it's impossible to keep a blanket on him at night when he sleeps (because he's able to flip around). A cute consequence is that he sleeps on his side sometimes, like this:

06.13.2011 Cherries cherries
Last saturday (6.10.2011), we went to Brentwood for cherry-picking. After reading a few reviews from Yelp, we decided on Freitas Ranch (555 Hoffman Lane, Brentwood, CA). It took about 1.5 hr to get there - not too bad. Evan slept most of the way there :) We got there fairly early (just before 10 am) and it wasn't too hot or crowded yet - it was actually a little cool. The staff was really friendly, the orchard had cherries only, and there were farm-provided ladders customers could use to climb up higher to get the cherries at top of trees. The cherries (mostly Bing?) were very sweet and big! We all had a blast eating the cherries, especially Evan. June peeled and fed him probably 6 to 10 cherries. His mouth was blacked from the cherry juice and happy as can be.

06.10.2011 Monster carrots
I planted some carrots a few months back and didn't expect too much because last year, they didn't grow very big. The ones this year aren't big either (yet) and part of it is probably because the soil is not soft or rich enough. The end result is what you see here - a monster-looking carrot, where offshoots from the main body drill into the ground in the paths of least resistance. The carrot is pretty sweet, btw!
